Pre-K

Our Pre-k Programme is designed for children aged 2.5 to 3.5 years. Children spend four and a half hours at school everyday immersed in active and purposeful learning. We have designed 5 exploration workshops for our Pre-k children - the language and math workshop, the art and sensory workshop, the makerspace, the music and drama workshop, and the indoor and outdoor play areas. Children will engage in diverse activities to advance their skills in core pre-academic areas including literacy, math, and science, and in social and emotional development areas, including empathy, health and well-being.

The Bell Goes Off

Language and Math Workshop

Children will spend 30 minutes each day to learn English and Math through hands-on investigation. One side of the workshop is designed to be a cozy library nook filled with books, pillows, and couches. Co-working tables will enable teachers to give personalised attention to each child as they begin to write. The workshop will also have iPads to give children 10-15 minutes of screen time where they will use English and Math apps.

Makerspace

The Makerspace is inspired by the global maker movement which aims to empower each child’s inventiveness by giving them a place to experiment and create. Children will create massive ball-rolls, observe characteristics of sound and touch, conduct basic primary surveys and use “trial and error” to find solutions to problems. The place will be a treasure trove of all kinds of maker sets - robots, coding blocks, and magnetic blocks, that let children make their imaginary worlds.

Art and Sensory Workshop

Creating art through every medium is essential to our pedagogy. This workshop is divided into 3 parts - the sensory wall, the easel area, and the sculpting area. The sensory wall is an installation which children will feel and play multiple types of games with everyday. The easel area has boards and tools that children will use to create beautiful art. In the sculpting area, children will create 3D art using clay, play dough, steel, and a variety of papers.

Music and Drama Workshop

Pre-k children have growing control of their voices and can sing songs. Our music workshop is an opportunity for children to play a wide variety of instruments and develop the ability to control beat, tempo, and pitch. The drama section is designed to quench children’s thirst for playing out imagined scenarios. They can explore racks of costumes varying across cultures and pick up props across all possible real-life scenarios.

Indoor and Outdoor Play

Each day, our Pre-k students will spend 60 minutes on physical play. They will play on slides, ramps, swings, tricycles, and tunnels. They will go for adventures in the treehouse or indulge in formalised sports including basketball, football, and croquet. Keeping in mind the Ahmedabad weather, we have created an indoor gym where children will walk on balancing beams, dive into larger than life ball pools, go rock climbing, or do trampoline jumping.
